The types of tournaments played consist of various formats such as Sit-And-Go´s, where the tournament begins when a fixed amount of players have registered, and Scheduled Tournaments, which are started at a fixed time. All online pool tournaments I know of are played out in a cup format which has quarter-finals, semi-finals etc. You progress deeper into the tournaments with each opponent you defeat just like in real tournaments. Tournament entry consists of a fixed buy-in for each player and the money is then pooled together and divided up between the winners according to a prefixed structure. There are also free-roll online pool tournaments which give out prize money for no buy-in cost. Online pool tournaments are an excellent way to spend an evening relaxing. It´s also becoming very popular to play online for real money and recently a few sites have sprung up to cater for this which can have upwards of 3000 players online at any one time. |
